CONSTANCE W. LOGE
Constance (Connie) Loge of Cooperstown passed away on December 31, 2015 at the Griggs County Care Center.
Connie was born February 16, 1923 in Steele County to William and Cora (Johnson) Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed at Hofva Lutheran Church. She graduated salutatorian from Cooperstown High School and went to Mayville State Teachers’ College for a standard teacher’s certificate. Connie taught in Pillsbury and rural Griggs County, riding horseback from her farm a few miles east to the Bolkan School. Connie met her husband, Harlowe, at a Christmas program at the school. They were married on June 17th, 1944 at a Swedish Lutheran church in Moorhead, MN. The last few years before his death they were very avid square-dancers, earning a badge for going dancing five nights in a row.
Connie loved reading and read to her children almost every night when they were growing up. She also learned to quilt, knit, crochet, and paint later in life. Each child and grandchild has a quilt made by her, and she quilted at her church every Tuesday for many years. Her church was very important to her, teaching Sunday School as well as being very involved in WELCA.
Connie leaves behind her children Gene and Rebecca Loge of Cooperstown, ND, Marjean and Ed Bender of Fort Collins, CO, and Orlyn and Audrey Loge of Bemidji, MN; her grandchildren Jennifer, Nicole, Erik, Brent, Cassi and Jason, and her great-grandchildren Jillian, Josie, Bryce, Carter, Owen, Lilly, Cooper, Fletcher, and Cody; her sister Alvina Ott and her brother Clarence Peterson, and 15 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlowe, and brothers Lawrence and Warren Peterson.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 10:30 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home and one hour before services in the Church. Interment will be in the Ness Cemetery.
Memorials in Connie’s memory may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Quilters or to the Ness Cemetery Association.
