Marvin Donald Myers, of Cooperstown ND, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021, Cooperstown, ND at the age of 88. Marvin was born to Wallace and Hazel (Iverson) Myers, August 3, 1932, in Coleharbor, ND. The Myers family moved to a farmstead west of Cooperstown in 1947. Marvin was united in marriage to Lillian (Gustafson) Myers August 16, 1953, and they lived in Cooperstown, ND. Together they raised 3 children. Marvin will forever be remembered by his children: Dennis Myers of Valley City ND, Dean Myers (Jeanette) of Cooperstown ND, and Susan Rorvig (Bradley) of Gillette WY. He also leaves to cherish his memory six grandchildren: Tara Boggs of Gillette WY, Mindy Anderson (Greg) of Fargo ND, Randy Myers (Melissa) of Cooperstown ND, Aaron Rorvig (Sarah) of Thornton CO, Brandon and Preston Myers of Valley City ND. He was a proud great grandfather of eight great-grandchildren: Jeremey and Gabriel Boggs of Gillette WY, Braeden, and Ashlyn Greer of Fargo ND, Maezy and Ella Myers of Cooperstown ND and Alexander and Zoey Rorvig of Thornton CO. He also leaves behind a sister Adline Gustafson of Aneta ND; one sisters-in-law; Ruth Gunderson of Cooperstown ND one brother-in-law, Duane Splittstoesser, Akeley, MN along with several nieces and nephews. Marvin severed in the US Army from December 1954 through November 1956. Marvin was an active member of the Cooperstown Fire Dept from 1972 to 1997. He served as Fire Chief from 1981 through 1984. He has been an honorary member of the fire department from 1997 until the time of his death. Marvin worked at Farmer Oil Company in Cooperstown ND for 40+ years. Upon his retirement, he worked on Borten Farms in Dazey ND for 5 years. Marvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Marvin enjoyed gardening and loved to share his vegetables with his family and friends. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. Marvin traveled throughout the United States with his wife Lillian by his side. Marvin was a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, good neighbor, and loyal friend. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Marvin is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Lillian Myers, Janet Myers (daughter), Wallace and Hazel Myers (Father and Mother), Calvin and Robert Myers (Brothers), Ole & Anna Gustafson (Father-in law & Mother-in-law), Dennis Gunderson, Obert Tharldson, Helmer and Henry Gustafson (Brothers-in-law), Margaret Tharldson, Jeanette Johnson Anna Splittstoesser, Gerd Myers, Alice Mae Myers (Sisters-in-laws). Visitation will be Monday, May 3, 2021 from 5:00 till 7:00 pm in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will continue Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 10:00 till 11:00 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am For a list of local florist go to our resource tab.
