ELAINE JACOBSON Elaine Jacobson, 85, of Finley, ND, passed away on January 23, 2015, at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Elaine Gloria Mostad was born April 24, 1929 in Minot, North Dakota, the daughter of Alfred and Anna (Sundre) Mostad. The family lived outside of Minot. She graduated from Minot High School in 1947. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1951 from Minot State Teachers College. Elaine taught music in Fargo at Agassiz through 1955. On July 2, 1955 she was united in marriage to Elmer Jacobson. They made their home in Finley, where they farmed. Elaine taught private piano lessons through the years, sharing her love of music with students young and old. She conducted Christmas and Easter Cantatas, and led numerous choir groups. Elaine shared her talents accompanying soloists, playing for weddings and funerals, and was named Grand Organist for the State Eastern Star. She continued play for church services during her time at the Luther Memorial Home. Elaine is survived by her sons, Bruce (Marylou) Jacobson, Finley, ND, Darrell Jacobson, Fargo, ND, Bradley Jacobson, Finley, ND, and Dean Jacobson, Fargo, ND, and by her daughter Deann (David) O’Lenick, Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren Sarah Jacobson, Laura Jacobson, Lucy (Tom) McLean, and Freddie O’Lenick; brothers-in-law J. Willard (Donna) Jacobson, Norris Jacobson, Edwin (Marlys) Jacobson; sisters-in-law Shirley Jacobson, Arlene Jacobson, Irene (Robert) Nygord, and Edna Hansegard; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Anna; her husband Elmer; an infant son Elroy; a brother and his wife, Kermit and Deloris Mostad; in-laws Orville Jacobson, Esther and Gus Deltener, Agnes and Roy Haugtvedt, Marvin Jacobson, Robert Jacobson, Mel Hansegard. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND. Visitation will be Monday, January 26, 2015 from 5:00 till 7:00 pm, followed by Prayer Service at 7:00 pm, at the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND. Interment will be in the Sherbrooke Cemetery.
