HARRY M. HAUGEN Harry Marvin Haugen was born to Mikel and Madli (Sabby) Haugen April 9, 1915 on the family farm near Hannaford, ND. He married Anna Kay Severson June 18, 1939 at the parsonage in Valley City, ND. The couple first lived in Staples, MN, Sauk Center, MN and then moved to Wimbledon in 1944. They moved to the farm in 1948 and bought it in 1959 living there until 2002 when they moved into an apartment in Valley City until 2005 when they moved into Bridgeview. Harry then moved into Sheyenne Care Center December 15, 2010. He died very peacefully with his son at his side May 18, 2012 and is resting in peace with his dear Ann. He was an active member of the church serving as deacon and served on the Karnak Elevator Board and the township boards along with driving school bus. Harry enjoyed music, farming, bowling, playing cards and being with family and friends. In fact, we had a hard time finding a picture without a family member in it. He sang in a quartet for years and actually caught a bird in his hand while they were performing in a barn. He was also known to give his family performances with his pitch fork violin. Harry is survived by his three sons: Harland (Myrna) Haugen, Valley City, ND; David (Mary) Haugen, Soldonta, AK and Joel (Denise) Haugen, Williston, ND; four grandchildren, Kim (Tim) Kotaska, Hannaford, ND, Wade (Andrea) Haugen, Grafton, ND, Marnie Haugen, Santa Barbara, CA and Jan (Marty) Hochhalter, Carrington, ND; twelve great grandchildren,, Rochelle Grenz, Michael and Matthew Wanzek, Christina Sayler, Hannah, Eric and Erin Haugen, Kayla, Kauri, Marcus and Payton Hochhalter, Elizabeth Kotaska and Grady Rick Haugen; one great-great grandchild Jayden Greer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mikel and Madli; his wife Ann; brother, Dennis; sister, Alvilda Schwenger; grandson Rick Haugen and two brothers-in-laws, Kasper and Oliver Severson.
