ROBERT BERGE Robert Eugene Berge 89, was born at the family farm in Sverdrup township to Betsy (Vigesaa) & Albert Berge on July 4, 1926. He attended country school for 8 years. Robert attended high school in Cooperstown and graduated in 1946. He attended 1 year of Bible school in Fergus Falls, MN. Robert enlisted in the army in May of 1951 and served in Korea and was discharged in Feb of 1953 with the rank of Sargeant. He attended the 50th anniversary of the Korean War in 2001 After his military service he enrolled at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and graduated with a BA in 1959. He was an avid Cobber fan and attended many functions there throughout his lifetime. Robert farmed in partnership with his brother Torrey until 1992. He loved the land and took great pride in providing for his family by working the land. In 1970 he met the love of his life, Adeline Kirkeby and married her on July 4, 1971. When they married he became an instant father to her 4 children. In October of 1973 they moved into Cooperstown and prepared for the arrival of their daughter in December. They lived in Cooperstown for 42 years and moved to Park Place on Sept 1, 2015. After his retirement in 1992, he took up the violin which he had played in earlier years. He enjoyed playing for anyone that had a birthday! He also enjoyed entertaining the "coffee crew" at the Coachman and missed that when he no longer was able to go. In 1992 Robert began working for Hedstrom farms. He loved doing what he could to help take care of the land and enjoyed stopping out to visit in the shop in the winter months to see what they were working on. Taking care of the land and the crops was always on his mind and was the first question he asked whenever he would see any of the men that farmed. He entered the Griggs County Care Center on November 6 and went to his eternal rest on December 9, 2015.
