BEATRICE L. FOGDERUD Beatrice Lola Lende Fogderud , 93, of Jamestown, North Dakota died on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Eventide at Hi Acres Nursing home in Jamestown. She was born on March 4, 1919 along with a twin sister, Bernice, on their family farm in Steel county in a raging blizzard, to Thorvald and Hilda Lende. As a younger teenager, Beatrice invited Jesus Christ into her life as her Lord and Savior. She was active in their church at Bethlehem Evangelical Free for the 60 years they lived on the farm. She was an active member of the Auxiliary of the Gideons International and served on the state cabinet as well as in the local camp. She loved music and it was always a part of her life. Along with her sisters, Phyllis, Bernice & Hannah, they sang all over the state and beyond and sang on the radio program on a regular basis on KOVC. They also sang on Channel 4, KXJB in its early years. On October 19, 1941 she was joined in marriage to Harley Alfred Fogderud in Cooperstown, ND. Harley and Beatrice honeymooned and began their life together on a farm just east of Hannaford, ND. They lived there for 60 years before moving to Jamestown. They were married 68 ½ years before God called Harley home. Before her marriage , Beatrice taught pre-school and K grade students. She was a gifted artist and poet and a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She and Harley sang together all of their married life. They also played in a string band together for many years. She left the best legacy any one could ask for---she loved the Lord with all of her heart and was a loving and faithful wife and mother. About Harley she always said, “I was his one and only and he was my one and only.” She deeply loved and prayed for each of her children and grandchildren daily and also for other family members. She maintained her good sense of humor right up to the end of her life. Their farm home, great food and a good cup of coffee, was always open to family, neighbors and even transients from the train. She is survived by her five children: David (Diana), Beloit, WI, Sharon (John) Sonneson, Mandan, Tim (Deb), Bismarck, Becky (Tim) Hager, Valley City, Douglas (Jodi), Jamestown. 13 grandchildren: Kathy, Keith, Joshua, Stephanie, Jeremy, Christopher, Laurie, Greg, Jon, Skyler, Destiny, Sabrina and Sage, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Four sisters- in- laws, June Lende, Ruth Lende and Carla Lende, Iris Fogderud and one brother- in- law, Dennis Anundson, and many nieces and nephews also survive her. Besides her husband Harley, she was preceded in death by her parents, Thorvald and Hilda Lende, her eleven siblings: Floyd, Palmer, Arvilla, Wendell, Hannah, Bernice, Phyllis, Doris, Donald, Thorvald Jr., Carroll. Funeral Services will be Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10:30 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Sunday at 7:00 in the Funeral Home. Interment will be at 1:30 pm in the St. Olaf Cemetery, Walum, ND.
