Jarvis M. Flaagan, 84, of Cooperstown, ND, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Aneta Parkview Health Center, Aneta, ND. Jarvis was born September 30, 1927 to Gerhard and Lillian (Twete) Flaagan on the family farm near Tolna, ND. He grew up and attended country school near Tolna. He joined the US Army and served in Korea. On July 7, 1951 Jarvis married Betty Quanbeck at Norway Lutheran Church, rural McVille, ND. They moved to Cooperstown where he worked at Farmers Oil Co. for most of his life. In his youth, Jarvis was an avid ski jumper. Throughout most of his life he played baseball and softball at Red Willow Resort where he and Betty enjoyed many summers at their cottage. In his later years, Jarvis enjoyed playing golf. Jarvis was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and active in the church choir. He was proud to serve on the Cooperstown Fire Department, Cooperstown Municipal Board and was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his two sons, Lonny of Fargo, ND and Ron (Patty) of West Fargo, ND; two grandchildren, Tricia of Fargo, and Scott of West Fargo; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Peyton; 3 siblings, Dale (Carol) Flaagan of Tolna, Joann Barnett and Doreen (Art) Maes of CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents, and sister, Donna Baldwin. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown, ND at 10:30 am. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 6:00 till 7:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home and will resume one hour before services in the Church. Interment will be in the Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, ND.
