JOSEPH H. HANSON Joseph Harold Hanson, 92, Finley, ND died Sunday, February 16, 2014 in Sanford Mayville, Mayville, ND. Joseph Harold Hanson was born April 2, 1921 near Sharon, ND, the son of Hagbert and Hilda (Ryan) Hanson. He grew up in the Sharon area and graduated from Sharon High School. He worked for the Johnson Farms and Martin Jensen. He moved to Minneapolis, MN where he worked for Gray Hound Bus Co. Joe was drafted into the US Army during WWII, he received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. After being honorably discharged he returned to the Sharon area. He married June Hunter and she passed away in 1949. He married Erma Evenstad, January, 5, 1955. Together they raised three daughters on the farm they purchased near Finley, ND. They lived on the farm until retiring into Finley. Erma died August 18, 2009. Joe moved to the assisted living in Mayville in 2011. Joe enjoyed visiting, tinkering in his garage, playing music on various instruments, playing cards at the senior citizens. He was a Steele County Commissioner, was on the Steele County Museum Board, helps rebuild the Enger Cabin in Hope, ND, helped build the Little Chapel on the Prairie and was a life member of the Peterson-Olson American Legion Post #13. He is survived by two daughters, Dianne (Jerry) Lethert, St. Paul, MN, Creta (Donald) Moe, Finley, ND; son-in-law Gary Pistelli, Ponce Inlet, FL; 6 grandchildren, Todd (Connie) Gadow, Holly Gadow, Michelle (Tony) Rooz, Heidi Poplick, Dawn (Eric) Feldman, Jennifer (Tim) West; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Judith Walswick, Hatton, ND; brother-in-law, Donald (Odell) Evenstad, Sharon, ND. Preceded in death by his parents; two wives, June and Erma; daughter, Faye; granddaughter, Yvonne; Brother Einar Tweeten and Sister Atha Holmen. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND. Visitation will be Monday, February 24, 2014 from 2:00 till 4:00 in the Luther Memorial Home Chapel, Mayville, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Monday at 4:00 pm in the Luther Memorial Home Chapel.
