A private service for Daisy Elizabeth Paulsen was held July 29, 2013 at the family farm in Washburn Township. She was born Daisy Elizabeth Atha in Agency, Missouri, on October 28, 1915. She died July 24, 2013 at the Griggs County Care Center, Cooperstown. She came to North Dakota in 1948 with her husband Benjamin Paulsen. They lived four years at Sherbrooke in Steele County before moving to the farmstead east of Cooperstown in 1952. Mrs. Paulsen was a renowned quilter, exhibiting during the North Dakota Centennial and in shows in Arizona where they wintered for over 30 years. They also enjoyed seven years in Mazatlan, Mexico. Mrs. Paulsen often attended eastern North Dakota auctions and in later years frequented many yard and garage sales as a pastime. She is survived by a son Lyle (Gail) Piggott of Valley Farms, Arizona; daughter Janet (Steven) Zimprich, Cooperstown; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, a son Richard, and a daughter Marian.
