Harley Fogderud The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown, North Dakota at 10:30am Visitation will be held Thursday, from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and will continue one hour prior to services in the Church. A Dinner will be served at the Cornerstone Community Church, Cooperstown, ND following the funeral service. Interment will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery at 1:30 on Firday. Harley Alfred Fogderud, 89, of Jamestown, North Dakota, died on Friday, June 18th at Hi-Acres Nursing Home in Jamestown, North Dakota. He was born on March 12, 1921 on the family farm in rural Walum, the son of Alfred and Millie (Bjugstad) Fogderud. Harley was gifted in so many ways. He was a farmer and a welder, doing welding repair for the neighbors and artistic welding as a hobby. He built many miles of roads through Fogderud Construction Company. Harley cared about young people and was a 4-H leader for 25 years. He served on the election board, was county assessor, ran for the state legislature, and was involved with the Griggs County Historical Society. He was a charter member on the board of Cross Roads Range. As a teenager, Harley was invited to evangelistic meetings in Karnak and while at the meeting he prayed and accepted Jesus Christ into his life as his personal Lord and Savior. He was the adult Sunday school teacher in Bethlehem E Free Church over 50 years. He was an active member of the Gideons International since 1960. He served in offices at the state and local level. He spoke in churches throughout ND and surrounding states for the Gideons and as a lay minister. He loved music and played guitar and sang with his wife, Beatrice all of their married life. He and Beatrice were in a string band for many years. He also sang in a trio with his brothers. He left the best legacy one could ask for: loving the Lord with all of his heart and providing for his wife and family. On October 19, 1941, he was joined in marriage to Beatrice Lola Lende in Cooperstown, North Dakota. Harley and Beatrice honeymooned and began their life together on a farm just east of Hannaford. They lived there for 60 years before moving to Jamestown. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice. Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown, ND.a and five children: David (Diana), Beloit, WI, Sharon (John) Sonneson, Mandan, Timothy (Deb), Bismarck, Rebecca (Tim) Hager, Valley City and Douglas, Jamestown, 13 grandchildren: Kathy, Keith, Joshua, Stephanie, Jeremy, Christopher, Laurie, Greg, Jon, Skyler, Destiny, Sabrina and Sage, 17 great grand children and 2 great great grandchildren. A sister, June Lende, and many nieces and nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Millie Fogderud, two brothers, Floyd and Gerald.
