Amy A. Wendlick Amy Wendlick, 83, of Finley, ND, was called home by the Lord Sunday, May 11th, 2014 surrounded by family at her home in Finley, ND. Amelia Alice Wilkie, daughter of Clemence (LaViolette) and Napoleon Antoine Wilkie, was born April 26th, 1931, in St. John, ND. She attended and graduated from St. John High School in 1949. Following high school, Amy moved to Chicago and worked at Brachs Candy Company. She returned to North Dakota and married Lenwood Wendlick on December 17, 1951. She proudly raised four children on the Wendlick Family Farm, Lennie, Lori, Leona, and Larry. She was an excellent cook and her family enjoyed many Sunday dinners around the farm table. She was an accomplished seamstress and many in the community admired her dress making abilities. Amy lived a faith filled life. She worked at Sacred Heart Convent in Fargo, North Dakota for 17 years, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed her work, taking care of the Nuns as they shared their love of Christ. Amy was a beautiful person inside and out. She was never consumed by material things. Her family is what she cherished most. She loved to find treasures at thrift stores and rummage sales. Amy enjoyed outings to the casino with her family and as recently as two weeks ago, she was hitting the Jackpot on the Sizzling 7’s slot machines. No one told a story better than Grandma Amy. She loved to talk and tell stories and these will be the memories her loved ones will cherish forever. Amy is survived by her four children. Lennie (Bev Devlin) and Lori, both of Finley, ND; Leona and Larry (Linda), both of Fargo, ND. Six grandchildren Casie (Keith) Groven of Northwood, ND, Crystal (Brandon) Palm of Hannaford, ND, Justin Wendlick of Fargo, ND, Danielle (Tyson) Bosse of West Fargo, ND, Brooke (Brad) Solberg of Watford City, ND, and Lance Johnson of Fargo, ND. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren and one brother Junior (Napoleon) Wilkie. She was preceded in death by brothers Stephen and Leo and sisters Leona and Mary Ann and one granddaughter Ashley Wendlick. “The happiest moments of my life have been those spent with my family” Funeral services will be Saturday, May 17, 2014 in St. Olaf Catholic Church, Finley, ND. Visitation will be Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Church and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Friday at 7:00 pm in the Church.
