ARDELL LOVEJOY Ardell Lovejoy, 68, of Mayville, ND, formerly Finley, ND passed away on December 15, 2020 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Ardell was born on December 4, 1952 to Robert and Helen (Odegaard) Lovejoy. Ardell was raised on the family farm and attended school in Aneta, ND where he graduated in 1970. He earned a degree in welding from North Dakota State College of Science. After his education, Ardell enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving for 3 years. He married Carol Jungels on March 31st, 1978. The couple lived in McVille and Larimore before making their home in Finley, ND. It was in Finley that Ardell became a well-known figure in the community. He worked as an equipment operator for the North Dakota Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2011. He also became a member of both the Finley Lutheran Church and Peterson-Olson American Legion Post #13, where he later served as President. Ardell loved telling stories and always had a clever joke to share. He enjoyed taking road trips around the country side and visiting with friends and family over a cup of coffee. He loved a good western movie, was a collector of knives and guns, and was always prepared for the hunt. His pride and joy was his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Ardell is survived by his daughters, Carlye Lovejoy, Fargo, ND and Sadie (Jon) Koehmstedt, Grafton, ND; grandchildren Harper and Kase Koehmstedt; sisters Joyce Hendrickson, Michigan, ND, and Robbie Carlson, Ft. Collins, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, and sister Vivian Dahl. Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2020, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND. Due to Covid restrictions, a private family service will be held at 2:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11 am in the Silent Hill Cemetery, Aneta, ND with full Military Honors. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their compassion, care, and kindness they showed him throughout his final years.
