June Lende June Eleanor (Fogderud) Lende, age 94, entered the Kingdom of Heaven via angels on December 31st, 2019 surrounded by her family. June was born to Alfred and Millie (Bjugstad) Fogderud on June 26th, 1925, on the family farm near Walum, ND. She attended primary school in a one-room schoolhouse and after graduating from Cooperstown High School, returned to teach in that one-room schoolhouse. On June 16th, 1946, she married Donald Oliver Lende. Together, they owned and operated June’s Café and Don’s Texaco in Walum, ND where June also served as the Post Mistress. They moved to Fargo in 1965 where June attended Interstate Business College and became a bookkeeper, working in various roles until retirement. She served as President of and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary. In 1977, June met her long-time companion Benjamin Hoaby. They later moved to Jamestown and made their home, along with her beloved Pomeranian, Cuddles. She was heavily involved with her church, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She worked with her son Dale in Jamestown for many years. June loved her Cadillac, including buying a new one for herself at age 90. She also gifted many people in her life with her hand-crocheted Afghan blankets. Known to everyone as either ‘Mom’ or ‘Grandma June’, her most important role was that of being a loving mother and grandmother to her nine children, 23 grand children, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as the many others who entered her life needing a mother. She was always so proud of her children and grandchildren, who are spread out across the country, and never missed an opportunity to tell you about them. She is survived by six sons: Donald Jr. (Milyn), Las Vegas, NV; Dean (Mardell), Billings, MT; Dale (Cheryl), Jamestown, ND; Roger (Dawn), Carrington, ND; Clinton (Nancy), Fargo, ND; and John (Andrea), Denver, CO. She is survived by three daughters: Donna Bays, Denver, CO; Julie, Jamestown, ND; and Janelle (Lori), Denver, CO. In addition, she is survived by Ben’s children: Mike Hoaby, Fargo, ND; Tammy Hoaby-Bolstad, Fergus Falls, MN; and three special mentions who have been part of our family for years: William Wiest, West Virgin Islands, Terry (Karina) Kjol, Houston, TX and Susan Peterson, Forest Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Millie; her brothers Floyd, Gerald, and Harley; her granddaughter Tina Lende Halle; her son-in-law John Bays; and her long-time companion, Benjamin Hoaby. We as a family believe that our mother left a legacy of pure, unconditional love, knowing we would do our best as a family and as individuals to maintain her legacy. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Her funeral will be held in Jamestown (New Hope Free Lutheran Church, 1545 4th Ave NW, Jamestown, ND) at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 11th. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Thank you to everyone for being a part of her life; a life well lived with love.
