MARGARET I. TRETTER Margaret Irene Fronk was born on November 7, 1920 in Hope, ND to Joseph and Mary (Peterson) Fronk. She attended school in Riverside Township. She married Andrew Tretter on October 24, 1940. They bought land west of Hope in Melrose Township and there they made their home. They retired in 1978 and moved into the town of Hope. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and flowers and also doing many crafts. Many family members and friends were given nicely painted ceramics and wood working items that she made. She would pick and dry flowers to make greeting cards. When her son gave her pheasant feathers from hunt she made pins to wear and arranged flowers from them to make pictures to hang. One of her most clever projects was making necklaces out of rolled up placemats and church bulletins with beads. She continued doing these many crafts after she moved into the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND in 2010. She was a life time member of St. Agatha’s church and Guild in Hope also a member of the Hope Senior Citizens club where she enjoyed playing cards and having coffee with her friends. She is survived by three sons, Richard (Pedo) of Hope, Jerry of Fargo, James (Emmy) of Farimont and one daughter Mary (Gary) Ihry of Hope. She had 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother Leonard Clausen of Omaha, Nebraska, one sister-in-law Carol Tretter of Larimore and one brother-in-law Vern Schommer of Cottege Grove, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her Andrew of 52 years, one son Robert, her parents and seven brother and sisters.
