MARY KUBISCHTA Mary Frances Kubischta passed away on the evening of September 27, 2016, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by her family in her Hope, North Dakota home. Mary was born on April 2, 1954 to Theodore and Catherine (Leonard) Wyatt in Baltimore, Maryland. Mary was the second of eight children, and a beloved friend and sister. She graduated from Seton Catholic High School in Baltimore, MD, and went on to support herself working full time at a bank in Baltimore while earning her Associate’s Degree, later completing her Bachelor’s Degree from Mayville State University in Mayville, ND. On February 6, 1987, Mary wed Dennis Kubischta of Hope, ND, at Saint Michael the Archangel in Overlea, MD. The couple farmed and made their home in rural Hope, ND, where they raised three children: Catherine, Vincent, and Jenny. Mary loved long and short road trips, visiting her many friends and family in Maryland, and traveling to England and Ireland. She treasured the time she spent with animals, especially her past horses and dogs. Mary was an active quilter, and spent time crafting beautiful keepsakes for family and friends, and giving generously to charities. Mary was an active member of St. Agatha’s Catholic Church in Hope, ND. She is remembered for the love and support she provided her family, and she loved spending time with her children and young grandchildren. Her kindness, understanding, sense of humor, and selflessness will always be remembered. Mary is survived by her husband, Dennis; three children: Catherine (Christopher) Band of Saint Paul, MN, Vincent (Anita) Kubischta of Hope, ND, and Jenny (Andrew) Brown of Fargo, ND; three grandchildren: Elijah and Amelia Kubischta of Hope, ND, and Nora Brown of Fargo, ND; seven siblings: Catherine Wyatt of Baltimore, MD, Theodore Wyatt of California, Michael Wyatt of Mississippi, Mark Wyatt of Mississippi, Julia Hevesy of New Freedom, Pennsylvania, John (Cheri) Wyatt of Baltimore, MD, and Martin Wyatt of Baltimore, MD; her aunt Dorothy (Joseph) Burkhardt; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Catherine Wyatt. Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home of Cooperstown, ND is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, September 30, at Saint Agatha’s Catholic Church in Hope, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday in the Church. The Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Agatha’s Catholic Church on Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon. Interment will be in the Hope Cemetery.
